Why Don't French Women Get Fat?

Because you know what? Oh my god, French bistro food is a heart attack on a baguette.

Staying at a B&B while in Paris, we had ample opportunities to grab sandwiches, have dinner in bistros, etc. and there is nothing--literally NOTHING--to which the French won't add an extra slice of ham. After buttering the baguette first, of course.

And--what the hell--let's just put an egg on top, like sprinkles.

Order rotisserie chicken, and you get a leg, with skin, covered in oil. The menu says "turkey and cheese sandwich" and never mentions the extra slab of bacon that comes on it. Try to get something like "Italian chicken in a tomato coulis" and you don't find the pork until you cut it open. Because: SURPRISE!!!

About the only time you don't get ham/bacon/pork bits in something is if it is already made of beef. Then they just add the egg. You know, for the well balanced diet, I guess.

With a national diet like that, my guess is that "French Women Don't Get Fat" because they are dodging the crazy drivers and walking a hundred miles each day just to get anywhere.

On the plus side? I lost 10 pounds while on vacation.
